Lagnacha Shot has finally hit theaters, and audiences are eager to see whether it lives up to the hype. Written and Directed by Akshay Gore, the film stars including Priyadarshini Indalkar and her co actor Abhijit Amkar in a pivotal role. This review explores the plot, performances, direction, themes, trailer buzz, early reactions, and overall verdict.
Actor’s & Director’s Previous Work
Before diving into the film itself, it’s worth noting the last performances of the lead players, Abhijit is well known for his versatility and well known for his roles in many movies. Takatak in 2019, I Prem U was released in 2023 and the most recent, Tuhi Re Maza Mitwa (2024). His comedy roles are almost going to span over a decade now. Unlike other films, Lagnacha Shot promises the same like minded youth. Furthermore, Priyadarshini who recently appeared in Dashavatar did exceptionally well being a Konkani middle class family independent woman. She now did great job in Lagnacha Shot. If I talk about Akshay Gore, it is his first debut movie and proved picking the best talent for the movie who both lead actors have put the efforts 100% in the movie.
The story of Lagnacha Shot revolves around family, love, bitrayal and mostly choices and freedoms. This is the condition of any Marathi boy and girl. This movie has focused on modern romance that has requirements of individual space. The narrative blends of romance with unique setting and tone that has enjoyed by my inner self. I laugh, cried and really made me think twice. Akshay did great in capturing the real hearts of modern youth culture in Marathi. This was indeed a requirement in the industry after a decade of blockbuster romantic films like Kaakan, Duniyadari, Time Please and many more. Like me, many others were waiting for something fresh from the Marathi industry and thanks to the director. All the chaos of conflict and self discovery in modern life of romance.
The pacing is sometimes slow, and the screenplay attempts to balance depth of the movie.
Lagnacha Shot explores themes such as love, revenge, justice, family freedom infact everyone is seeking today. While some ideas resonate strongly, others feel many repetitive which makes slow and boring. However, the movie finally balance at in the end.
Performances
- Abhijit Amkar: Delivers fearless performance compared to his recent I Prem U and Takatak. He seems more confident while delivering dialogue, loud and clear with his emotions.
- Priyadarshini Indalkar: Adds depth to her character and the plot being independent girl who can take care of herself and great decision maker.
- Supporting cast: Supporting roles means a lot here to add depth, all of them did exceptionally well, Prabhakar More made successful attempt to laugh me.
In my opinion the trailer of Lagnacha Shot generated high buzz, with audiences praised for its music, dialogue and delivery. Early mentions on social media highlighted the audience with its great anticipation. I enjoyed and this is a must watch and refresh your weekend in the theatre.
What Worked & What Didn’t
Liked:
- Strong performances, engaging first half, visuals, music. Therefore, it last till the end and that is the win.
Didn’t Like:
- My personal take that climax was predictable.
Based on early reviews and audience reactions, Lagnacha Shot is expected to earn ₹1-2 crore in its opening weekend. Long‑term success will depend on word of mouth marketing. But, there is no competition again Marathi movie in the theatre. Furthermore, mo comedy genres is showing in the theatre release that take strong stand against Lagnacha Shot. So this is a great chance for producer to earn money. However, big players like Border 2 and Mardaani 3 already dominating the space.
